West Town Vintage 2 Bed + Den Reno: Floors, Kitchen, Baths and Staging Oh My!
The Renovation Run Down
Floors: Beautiful Brazilian cherry is a hard wood, but the reddish tone is dated for today's city buyer.
We sanded and stained floors to a walnut brown, removed scratches and used a matte/eggshell finish.
Walls: Renters had painted walls several colors over the years, red, green yellow, and of course, the requisite rental beige.
We took all of the walls to a neutral gray with crisp bright white trim, patched holes, sanded cracks and gave the ceiling and closets a fresh coat too.
Kitchen: The kitchen offered the most robust area for transformation. A two tone paint job brought dated cabinets up-to-date with a dark satin charcoal colored finish
on the bottoms and a creamy white on top. This color combo gave the granite counters a brand new appearance. We swapped the stainless cabinet hardware with a
matte black to define the new look. The light fixture in the kitchen was awkwardly placed (and also dated). We reoriented the fixture and swapped it out for something modern.
Bedrooms: The bedrooms were painted and each got hipped up with light fixtures with an architectural flair. Matte black is en vogue right now so we used these fixtures
with a nod to mid century modern design throughout and made sure we were throwing tons of light in these rooms with more wattage (as the windows for the bedrooms
face the brick building next door). To keep costs as low as possible we repurposed the old dining room chandelier in one of the bedrooms - it was a perfect swap.
Bathrooms: Both bathrooms have neutral tile floors and tub surrounds. These rooms just needed a color scheme change. Wall color was the start. We painted both
vanities (one went light, the other dark), and swapped out light fixtures to modernize the look. The bathrooms transformed.
